Terms of Service

Operator and contact information

The PII Blackout website and related services are operated by SHAO SHUAI, an individual developer. For questions about these Terms, contact: [email protected].

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the PII Blackout website and related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

2. Service Description

PII Blackout provides educational content, downloads, and software that helps users identify and redact sensitive information from documents. The software is designed to support offline workflows for document redaction and batch processing.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Paid subscriptions and license purchases on this website are processed by third-party payment providers. Checkout is handled by Creem.

When you use Creem checkout, you may be able to pay with multiple methods (for example, credit or debit cards and other options Creem makes available in your region at checkout). The exact methods shown depend on Creem and are not limited to card payments.

Subscription plans renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel from your account page; access generally continues through the end of the current billing period. For invoices, receipts, and billing details on Creem subscriptions, use the Creem Customer Portal link sent by email after payment.

Day Pass ($9.90 for 24 hours) and Week Pass ($34.90 for 7 days) are one-time purchases. They do not renew, and buying one does not cancel an existing subscription. Access ends when the pass period ends. If the desktop app is offline, a Day Pass license can remain valid until the end of its expiration date in UTC. A refund ends the remaining access from that purchase. When a pass overlaps a Starter subscription, Professional features apply until the pass ends, and the Starter subscription then continues on its own billing period.

By completing checkout, you authorize us and our payment providers to charge the selected plan price and applicable taxes using your chosen payment method.

4. User Responsibilities

• You are responsible for reviewing redaction output and verifying sensitive data is removed
• You must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
• You must not use the website or software for unlawful purposes

5. No Professional Advice

Any information on this website is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal advice, compliance advice, or a substitute for professional review. You should consult qualified counsel and/or compliance professionals to determine what must be redacted and how to meet your obligations.

You acknowledge that redaction is context-dependent. What must be removed may vary by jurisdiction, industry, policy, and the purpose of disclosure. You remain solely responsible for determining the appropriate redaction scope.

In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims exceed the amount you paid to us for the applicable service during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PII Blackout and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the website or software, your documents and content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law, regulation, or third-party rights.

13. Governing Law; Venue
